IMMERSIVE DESIGN & AI CERTIFICATE (189 HRS) - REMOTE Design the Next Generation of Interactive Digital Experiences Step into the future of creative technology with the Immersive Design & AI Certificate. This cutting-edge, one-semester, remote, synchronous workforce program prepares students to design, develop, and deploy interactive experiences for Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), Extended Reality (XR), and emerging Spatial Computing platforms using industry-standard software and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Students gain hands-on experience with professional tools including Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, and AI-powered creative technologies while developing practical skills in 3D modeling, immersive application development, spatial user experience (UX) design, interactive storytelling, simulation, and real-time visualization. Throughout the program, students explore how AI is transforming immersive media by accelerating asset creation, assisting with programming, generating environments and textures, creating intelligent virtual characters, and streamlining modern production workflows. Working in a collaborative studio environment, students complete hands-on projects that mirror professional production pipelines—from concept development and rapid prototyping to immersive application development and portfolio presentation. Emphasis is placed on creative problem solving, technical proficiency, human-centered design, accessibility, and collaborative production. Graduates leave with a professional portfolio demonstrating workforce-ready skills applicable across gaming, entertainment, architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, healthcare, education, simulation, digital media, marketing, and other emerging industries utilizing immersive technologies. Students must register for the entire program at the time of registration; a payment plan is available Artificial Intelligence for Immersive Design Discover how Artificial Intelligence is transforming immersive media production. Students learn to integrate AI throughout the creative pipeline—from concept generation and programming assistance to intelligent virtual characters and procedural world building. Students explore ethical AI practices while gaining hands-on experience with AI-assisted creative production tools. Upon successful completion, students will understand how to responsibly incorporate AI into professional immersive production. CE-DGART 2182PE M/W, Mar. 8-Apr. 21, 6:30-9:30 pm. Spatial User Experience Design Successful immersive applications require more than technology—they require thoughtful human-centered design. This course introduces students to the principles of designing intuitive, engaging, and accessible experiences for three- dimensional environments. Students explore how people perceive, navigate, and interact within immersive spaces while developing prototypes that prioritize usability and accessibility. Upon successful completion, students will develop interactive prototypes demonstrating effective spatial user experience principles. CE-DGART 2183PE Sat., Mar. 6-Apr. 24 (skip 3/27), 1:00-5:00 pm. 3D Design for Immersive Media Build the foundation of every immersive experience by learning professional 3D modeling, digital sculpting, materials, lighting, animation, and asset optimization using Blender. Students develop original models and environments while exploring AI-assisted workflows that accelerate concept development, texturing, and creative production. Through demonstrations, guided exercises, studio projects, and production assignments, students learn to create efficient, game-ready assets for virtual and mixed reality applications while building a professional digital asset library. CE-DGART 2180PE M/W, Jan. 11-Mar. 1, (skip 1/18) M/W, 6:30-9:30 pm. Immersive Application Development Bring virtual worlds to life by developing immersive applications using Unity or Unreal Engine. Students learn how interactive environments are built for Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, and Spatial Computing devices. Through instructor demonstrations, guided programming exercises, and project-based learning, students build interactive experiences while exploring navigation systems, physics, environmental interaction, lighting, user input, and deployment to immersive platforms. Upon successful completion, students will have produced an interactive immersive application. CE-DGART 2181PE Sat., Jan. 16-Feb. 27, 1:00-5:00 pm.
